What Does the Car of the Future Look Like?

Typically images of the “Jetsons” and sleek flying cars come to mind when thinking about the car of the future.  For Daniel Kim, founder of Lit Motors, the car of the future does not have flying capabilities and what it lacks in size it makes up with innovation and a cool factor that would rival some of the fanciest cars out there. Kim is part of our Apron Projects, his vision is to revolutionize transportation in the 21st century, and he is doing it with the C1.

Imagine a motorcycle and a compact car had a baby; the result would be the C1. It’s a two-wheeled, fully enclosed, electric vehicle. It combines the romance and efficiency of a motorcycle with the safety and comfort of a car. This cool new car is equipped with two powerful computer-controlled gyroscopes that constantly keep the vehicle upright. It will never tip over like a motorcycle, and can still maneuver through traffic as if it were a Honda Sports bike. It takes the danger out of driving on 2 wheels. When a motorcycle is involved in accident it tips over. The gyroscope technology allows it to skid instead of tipping over, and it keeps the driver safe. How much force would it take to knock the C1 on its side? According to Lit, a small elephant would have to hit it broadside to put the C1 on the ground.

Kim is a mix of Henry Ford and Steve Jobs. Not only has he invented a new type of vehicle, but he incorporated the technology we’ve all come to love. The C1 connects with a 4G network, allowing you to connect with other C1 drivers it also keeps you connected with the internet. You don’t need to carry your phone; the car does it for you.  In a world where we’re constantly connected, this is a leap in the right direction. Kim has been quoted as saying that he wants to change the world, he certainly is on the right track. Not only is he coming up with new technology, but he is making the automotive industry take notice.

Lit Motors has come up with some very progressive technology that can very well change the way we look at transportation. Two-wheeled vehicles are a solution to sustainable transportation. Smaller, cheaper, and more fuel efficient is the future. Kim envisions a future were we leave a smaller foot print, all while looking cool doing it.

Are we ready to give up our four-wheeled vehicles for this sleek creation? Only time will tell. Would you be willing to trade your car for a C1?
